Mobile Content Delivery

Adaptive Content Server™ (ACS) Technology
Unwired Appeal provides a highly versatile mobile contact delivery platform to service the sizeable market demand for multimedia delivery to cell phones. The cornerstone is UA’s proprietary Adaptive Content Server™ (ACS) and Dynamic Device Detection technologies.

The ACS platform supports audio, graphic, video source files in standard file formats (MP3, MID, GIF, JPEG, and 3GPP). Service providers simply store the files on their hosting servers and notify the ACS platform when a download is required.

Downloads may be initiated in several ways. Clicking on a website link (click-to-download) or sending a keyword to a short code (text-to-download) are the most common methods. In the USA, Unwired Appeal pioneered the latter technique through it's Dynamic Device Detection technology.

In the web scenario, website visitors "click-to-download" ringtones or graphics to their cell phones. In the "text-to-download" scenario, the user simply sends a keyword/code to a UA short code. The ACS platform retrieves the associated source file and sends an SMS message with a mobile content link to the user. When the user accesses the link, the ACS servers automatically detect the capabilities of the cell phone, convert the content to the appropriate format, and deliver it to the cell phone - all within seconds.

ZaptoPhone™ Service for Websites
To accomodate the growth of online sites selling ringtones, graphics, and video. UA launched the ZaptoPhone service in mid-2004.

ZaptoPhone enables websites to deliver music, soundbytes, photos, graphics, and video to millions of cell phone subscribers across the USA and worldwide. Website owners simply insert small pre-formatted tags into their webpages that identify the desired content for cell phone delivery.

While browsing a website, a visitor can select a photo or music clip and Unwired Appeal's ACS servers automatically retrieve the content, optimize it for the visitor's cell phone, and deliver it directly to the phone. More on ZaptoPhone...
