Text-Messaging Hits the Big Screen
Boston, MA – June 7, 2007 – Unwired Appeal announced the launch of its new Text2Screen service that allows wireless subscribers to send text-messages directly from their cell phones to digital screens.
The service includes an integrated monitoring and publishing interface that enables administrators to review and approve text messages before they are displayed on a public screen. Messages with unsuitable content can be easily filtered and rejected. The monitoring interface is entirely web-based and is accessible from any remote location with internet access.
The text-to-screen service is primarily designed for use at concerts and sporting events to promote audience interaction, but it can also be used as a means to receive questions and feedback from smaller audiences at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
“We engineered the Text2Screen service to be a cost-effective and scalable solution”, commented Stephen Nye, Unwired Appeal’s VP of sales. “The development started last winter with a project for the Reuters/NASDAQ digital sign on Times Square. In the past months we also received a number of requests for smaller in-venue deployments so we expanded the solution and packaged it into a client-managed module.”
The service includes options for billing end-users for sending text-messages to the screen. Charges are automatically made to the end-users’ cell phone bill using Premium SMS (PSMS) technology. Unwired Appeal maintains SMS and PSMS connections with all major carriers - Verizon Wireless, AT&T(Cingular Wireless), T-Mobile, Sprint/Nextel, Alltel, U.S. Cellular, Virgin Mobile, and Boost Mobile.
