Unwired Appeal Launches
SMS Text2Win with NY Knicks' Basketball
Boston MA - November 24, 2004 -- Unwired Appeal and
Insite Media Group launched TextnWatch2Win100K last
week when the NY Knicks took on the LA Clippers Friday
night. The ongoing promotion allows fans to participate
in Knicks' related game polls during the season and
also have a chance at a $100,000 half-court shot. The
promotion is jointly sponsored by Verizon Wireless and
Audiovox.
"It is a natural follow-on to the 'Text the NY Mets'
promotion we ran for Insite Media during the baseball
season," offered Keary Griffin, director of technology
at Unwired Appeal. "The Knicks' promotion also lets
us expand our service offering by incorporating IVR
and web-based methods of entry in addition to text-messaging."
During the first quarter of select Knicks' games, fans
are broadcast questions via television ads, radio spots,
and SMS. After registering, participants can instantly
reply to questions using text-messaging from their cell
phones. Results are tracked during the game and broadcast
live during the fourth quarter.
"Its another great example of the power and simplicity
of text-messaging for creating an interactive promotional
event," continued Griffin. "Anyone in the broadcast
audience with a cell phone is able to participate whether
they are watching the game from the stands, viewing
on television at home, or listening to the radio on
the road."
The promotion runs from November through December. Each
poll response is also automatically entered in a drawing
for a chance at the $100,000 grand prize. One lucky
contestant will be picked at random and be given a chance
to try and sink a basket from half-court during Knicks'
vs Trail Blazers game on January 9th, 2004. For detailed
